What the Holy Bible says about Abortion:

13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13)

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

11 You clothe me with skin and flesh and knit me together with bones and sinews. 12 You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in your providence watched over my spirit. (Job 10: 11-12)

15 [the Lord says] “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! (Isaiah 49: 15)

You shall not commit murder. [The 6th Commandment] (Exodus 20: 13)

21 A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. (John 16: 21)

Something worth considering:

Each person has unique DNA and that DNA remains with that person throughout their lifetime. The unique DNA contains the genetic code that determines species (human) along with a multitude of other details which make the person unique.

If there is a unique DNA created at the exact moment of conception, then it stands to reason that the human DNA defines the embryo/fetus as a human being — regardless of what level of growth it has (or has not) achieved.

If DNA for that unique human being is created at conception… is the embryo also given a soul/spirit when it is assigned its unique DNA?

From a biblical perspective abortion is a sin (murder of an innocent). But regardless of your belief system, there is a lot of emotional baggage that comes with having an abortion. A significant number of women who have had abortions experience emotions of grief, loss, sadness, and despair related to the abortion. These emotions are often accompanied with feelings of guilt and remorse. If you are considering having an abortion, please get all the facts, seek good counsel, and be sure you are making an informed decision.

If you have had an abortion and are experiencing distressing emotions related to the abortion, please seek professional help and support groups. Also, please see the following biblical topics: grief & loss, sin, repentance, forgiveness, salvation, peace, and hope.
